Music Without Applause

How’s this for a paradox: Arvo Pärt is the most popular composer working today and his works, steeped in contemplation, are classics of 20th and 21st-century music – yet Sinfonietta Cracovia implores us not to applaud after his concert. How’s this possible? The concert of Pärt’s music, featuring Trisagion, Berlin Mass and Stabat Mater, is the latest instalment of the Music Without Applause cycle. The event promotes avant-garde music trends, this time focusing on spiritual minimalism and Pärt’s very own distinctive tintinnabuli style. “We have a fascinating journey to the sources of mysterious, Eastern European spirituality ahead of us,” says the orchestra’s director Jurek Dybał. Don’t forget that the rule of Music Without Applause means that listeners are asked not to clap during and after the concert. Won’t be easy! (Barbara Skowrońska)

We also ate in the restaurant which was beautifully presented and very tasty. ” 23 March 2016

  • “Lovely hotel in great location Stayed for 2 nights in a twin room with a friend for a weekend visit. Hotel is in a great location about 4 mins to Jewish District (Kazimierz) with it's funky bars and restaurants and historical buildings, and max 10 mins to the main square and castle. Rooms were clean, well decorated and the shower was excellent. No noise from the road outside. Lots of choice for breakfast. Staff are super helpful - contacted them in advance regarding transfers from the airport and also for a tour of Auschwitz and they organised private taxi at very good prices. When we were having cocktails (which were excellent) in the lounge, the concierge offered to put on a dvd of music concert of our choice which was a nice touch. He was also patient making reservations for dinner for us as he had to call 4 places as we had left it late on a saturday. Would definitely recommend. ” 11 March 2016
    Heather from London

  • “A nice small hotel with great service and a fantastic breakfast. One of the best breakfast we've seen. Even champagne was served. Great restaurant in the basement. 10 minutes walk to the old town. If you come by your own car, you can pre-book a parking spot in front of the hotel for a low cost. Free wifi, and it was working perfectly. This hotell was more than we expected, and we'll come back if we're visiting Krakow again. We give this hotel our best recommendations. ” 20 January 2016

  • “We are very pleased. If we come back to Krakow one day, it would be definitely Queen Boutique Hotel. Great location (close to everything), good hotel standard, wonderful and incredibly helpful staff – we had a health problem – they pointed out locations coming on duty on holidays dental surgeries and pharmacies. Excellent cuisine. ” 2 January 2016

  • “We were picked up at the airport in a luxury vehicle by the hotels driver and that set the tone of the standard. Check in was quick and the staff keen to assist. The rooms (there was two couples in our group) were modern, clean and well maintained. The breakfast was excellent with loads of choice. We had a meal in the restaurant one evening and we would highly recommend it. The location is about a 10 minute walk to the square and the Jewish quarter is directly opposite the hotel. We had a fantastic stay in an excellent hotel that has superb staff. We all thoroughly recommend staying at this hotel.” 26 December 2015
    Andy from Aberdeen

  • ““Superb little hotel” We have just spent three nights at this hotel and we were very pleasantly surprised. Friends introduced us to it and I can understand why, every aspect of this hotel is lovely. Superb location for Market Square and Jewish Quarter, walkable to both. Best breakfast we've had in ages, very comfy room, lots of cosmetics in the bathroom, bathrobes and slippers too. Speedy free wifi. ” 29 November 2015

  • ““Brilliant hotel!” Me and my girlfriend stayed here for 2 nights while in Kraków. We couldn't ask for any more from the hotel! From the minute we stepped off the plane our private driver Michael was waiting (I'd recommend this service to everyone as it made the journey to the hotel no stress.) We then had reception clearly explain to us all of the good to go areas and as the hotel is located in the centre of everything it's only ever a 10-15 minute walk to the best places. The main square, old town, wawel castle and Jewish quarters all within easy walking distance. The free breakfast is great, and offers all you could need in the morning. The only thing I would say is if your looking to use the spa book in early as it has limited spaces and books up quickly. Also, again if your looking to book the Auschwitz tour through the hotel book as soon as you get to the hotel to ensure you get the time you want. We unfortunately didn't do this and couldn't use the spa due to availability. A big thank you to all the staff at the Queen Boutique Hotel!” 28 November 2015

  • “ “This is a jewel of a hotel - really fit for a Queen! The location is halfway between the Old City and Main Town Square and the Jewish Quarter, so you can easily walk everywhere. The staff at this hotel are so friendly, attentive, and eager to help with every question or need. The room is elegant and the breakfast is delicious and varied. Drinks at night in the bar were quite reasonable. Don't miss taking advantage of the Spa!!” ” 15 November 2015

  • “I booked this Hotel direct and received a very proficient service right from the start. Upon arrival we were welcomed with complete professionalism and this level remained throughout our stay. All the staff were extremely friendly, polite and attentive. The Queen Boutique Hotel is modern, extremely clean and has a lovely ambience. It is perfectly located between the Jewish Quarter and the Old Town and both our within easy walking distant. • “Staff, food & room .......Amazing ! First time in Krakow and think I would have been hard pushed to have found a more perfect hotel , situated between the Jewish Quarter and the Main Square , both easily walkable, it was just amazing from start to finish. The staff can't do enough for you , pleasant , smiling and helpful , anytime night or day, to the point they sorted us out with clingfilm & gaffer tape when the zip on our case was a bit dodgy before leaving ,Thank you so much for that ! Breakfast was delicious and the room was spotless and divine. Would highly recommend anyone to book here and will definitely go back for another visit. Thank you xx ” 29 June 2015

  • “This place is fantastic, it's perfectly located between the Main Square and the Jewish quarter. The food & drinks are amazing, we tried a few cocktails and could have drunk them all night. The room was spacious, clean and very much 5 star rather than 4 star. Good value for money. The staff were very attentive and the massage was just great. OK the road was busy at certain times, but I didn't here a thing at any point during my stay. What a place.. Keep up the good work.” 27 June 2015

  • “Beautiful hotel located between the two most important sightseeing-areas of cracow. We are definitely coming again. ” 1 May 2015

  • “Small hotel in a good central location On arrival mid morning we were made welcome and provided with coffee while our room was made ready (normal check in time was after 2.00pm) which took only 30 minutes. The staff all spoke good English and were most helpful when asked for advice and information as to where best to go in Krakow. Our room was at the back of the building was well furnished, quiet, and very cleen. It had a small balcony equipt with two chairs overlooking a monastery garden with many apple trees many in spring blossom. The choice of breakfast was very good ranging from a glass of cava to continental or cooked dishes. We only dined in on one evening and found that, while the choice of dishes was limited, the standard was definitely haut cuisine and excellent. Our stay was for three nights and wished it could have been longer. ” 28 April 2015

  • “Fabulous hotel. We are just home after our second visit to this fabulous hotel. The service from all the staff was first class. Our room was very spacious and spotlessly clean with a beautiful view of the Wawel castle. The hotel is in a very good location for tourist attractions with some of them being walking distance. There was a really good choice of food and drinks for breakfast and also dining in hotel at night is lovely. We will definitely visit this hotel again. ” 13 April 2015

Breakfast every morning was truly splendid, and the resturant's tasting menu was divine, a real birthday treat.” 23 March 2015

  • “The hotel was absolutely excellent. The staff were pleasant, knowledgable and friendly and the room was better than expected. We found that the breakfast was great each morning as were the bar and cocktails. We also had a treatment in the spa which was great. Excellent location between Old Town and Jewish Quarter.” 22 March 2015

  • “Very clean, bright and modern hotel. Exceptionally helpful staff. Buffet breakfast excellent with lots of choice, both hot and cold options available. Wonderful room with balcony overlooking Wavel Castle, very peaceful at night. Comfy bed and plenty of space. Excellent location between Old Town and the historic Jewish District where there are lots of good restaurants within 5 minutes walk. Also easy walk to the old Getto area and Schindlers factory. Throughly recommend this hotel.” 3 March 2015

  • “Excellent. Spent 4 nights at this hotel and had a wonderful time. We took note of other reviews and booked a deluxe room with a balcony overlooking the castle at the back. The room was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. The reception staff speak good English and are extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was plentiful, varied and tasty. Perhaps the best feature (for us) was the location; 15 minutes walk to the old town, 10 to the castle and 5 to the Jewish Quarter. ” 19 February 2015

  • “Bardzo przyjemny hotel, bliziutko rynku, jednak cicho i spokojnie. Bardzo dobre jedzenie z hotelowej restauracji. Fajny wystrój- biel, czerń i beż. Obsługa na wysokim poziomie. Polecam szczególnie na wyjazdy dla par lub ze znajomymi. Naprawdę ciekawe miejsce w centrum Krakowa. ” 8 March 2014

  • “Mieliśmy szczęście odwiedzić ten hotel w Walentynki 2014 roku. Przyjeżdżając do Krakowa szybko dotarliśmy do Queen Boutique. Tam od razu w recepcji spotkaliśmy się z przemiłym przyjęciem. Pokój bardzo wygodny, wspaniale wyposażony, lśniący czystością. Dyskretna obsługa zawsze gotowa pomóc, jednak całkowity brak nachalności powodował, że w ogóle nie czuliśmy się skrępowani. Zdecydowanie polecamy ! ” 17 February 2014
